Educator development

Today’s students are tomorrow’s innovators. That’s why we believe strongly in increasing opportunities and providing resources for STEM educators. We support math and science education across all grades because inspiring students to pursue higher education and seek careers in technology is vital.

Helping educators spark students’ passion for STEM

We partner with many organizations to provide teachers with opportunities for STEM training and professional development. We want educators to be able to inspire their students to pursue an education in STEM by using hands-on, real-world applications and techniques that augment our k - 12项目 在教室里.

We also seek to increase diversity and equity in the STEM teacher workforce. The 微米 Foundation and National Science Foundation (NSF) recently announced a $10 million partnership through which 微米 Foundation will invest $5 million over the next five years to accelerate the preparation, training and retention of new and existing STEM teachers and educators. These include people of color, women, veterans and those in rural communities.

微米 is working with the NSF to identify programs, including the NSF’s Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program, to help increase the number of STEM K-12 teachers who are both interested and prepared to teach individuals of all races, ethnicities and backgrounds across the nation — including some of the most distressed and under-resourced K-12 contexts.

Priority of funds will be used to train new skilled and qualified STEM educators, develop facilitated networks and communities of practices for new and experienced STEM educators, teacher mentors and teacher leaders; provide necessary classroom resources to cultivate innovation, investigation and hands-on and virtual experimentation; and to build the capacity of local, state and regional ecosystems to support STEM and workforce education.
